Welcome - Sched is a tool to help you connect with other conference attendees, learn more about the speakers and identify which sessions you’d like to attend at YNPN18.

Please note that adding a breakout session to your schedule does not guarantee you a seat.  Deep Dive sessions and Innovation Tours require pre-registration through EventBrite.  Get started now by creating a profile and use Sched to plan your experience at the conference!

Note: Yellow blocks represent sessions at the Pre-Conference Leaders Institute (Chapter Leader ticket holders), and Green blocks represent sessions at the Professional Development National Conference (YNPN Member and General Admission ticket holders).

Respecting the Dignity of Every Human Being: Creating Compassionate Communities

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

You’ve done some good things. You’ve made some donations. You’ve protested and marched. You volunteered to clean up the local park, build houses for the homeless, and feed people who don’t know where their next meal is coming from. This is all good. But do you ever wonder if you’re really making a difference? What do you do when the world doesn’t really seem to change?

This premise of this workshop is that the first and most effective action we can take to change the world is to create compassionate communities, communities defined by mercy, acceptance, inclusion, diversity, connection and trust. We’ll look at how this type of community can become a “new commons” that breaks down walls and create opportunities for long-lasting transformation.

If you’re wondering, “Is this a religious workshop?” the answer is “Sort of, but not really.” Which is to say that this workshop is not about religion, it’s about community. People of all religions and no religions are welcome. No proselytizing, I promise! Together we’ll seek to embody for a short time what it means to be a new commons.
