Welcome - Sched is a tool to help you connect with other conference attendees, learn more about the speakers and identify which sessions you’d like to attend at YNPN18.
Please note that adding a breakout session to your schedule does not guarantee you a seat. Deep Dive sessions and Innovation Tours require pre-registration through EventBrite. Get started now by creating a profile and use Sched to plan your experience at the conference!
Note: Yellow blocks represent sessions at the Pre-Conference Leaders Institute (Chapter Leader ticket holders), and Green blocks represent sessions at the Professional Development National Conference (YNPN Member and General Admission ticket holders).
More than any other sector, we in the nonprofit sector must become great leaders of people, able to motivate others through mission and not money. Compared to other professions, as a rule the sector does not have the attraction of large salaries, bonuses, stock options, upward mobility, premier healthcare or retirement plans. In order to lead we must actually give our colleagues a reason to follow us that is not based on position or external incentives. We must learn how to treat people like the valuable contributors they are and help them develop their own intrinsic motivation. The only way to do that is to care about them and their development potential, to make them feel they are an important part of the organization.
The mission of “Leadership through Sharing Fire” is to banish bully bosses from the nonprofit sector. In essence it is focused on abolishing “beatership®” and fostering “teachership®”. It is based on the original and true definition of philanthropy, which is the act of giving people the tools they need to create a better life. Dr. Hardy’s philosophy of leadership that “If you lead others through fear you will have no respect, but if your lead them with respect, you will have little to fear.” Please join Dr. Hardy for an extraordinary new approach that will set you apart as a nonprofit leader.
